Understanding Angry People
UNH Associate Professor Malcolm Smith gave a presentation on Understanding Angry People at the January LRPC Commission Meeting. Dr. Smith offered several insights based on his lengthy experience as a designer and user of programs to improve the quality of family life. This presentation is now available online. Malcolm is a Family Life specialist who provides service, support, and leadership to UNH programs serving NH families and communities.

Community Grant Program Request for Applications
Healthy Eating Active Living New Hampshire (HEAL) is pleased to announce the release of the Community Grant Program 2012 Request for Applications (RFA). 2011 - 2012 Planning Board and Municipal Officials Calendar Now Available
The Local Government Center (LGC) has finalized the 2012 Calendar of Important Dates for Local Officials for communities based on Town-meeting form of government. Planning Boards often reference this calendar to determine their own public hearing schedule for ordinances. Feel free to contact the LRPC for additional information.

“Winnipesaukee Gateway” Receives Award
The “Winnipesaukee Gateway” received the 2011 New Hampshire Planners Association Project of the Year award! This award is granted to a project, program or tool that is a significant advantage to the cause of planning. The “Winnipesaukee Gateway” (www.winnigateway.org) is unique in that it is the first “web-based” watershed management plan to be approved by the NH Department of Environmental Services. The Gateway also represents the desire to create an informative tool that can deliver large amounts of constantly changing information to key audiences, which will educate and promote awareness and stewardship of the natural resources in the Lake Winnipesaukee watershed among the public.

2010 Census Population and Housing Maps
Regional Maps of 2010 Census Population and Housing Changes by town available. Click on the thumbnail to view large format images. A recent report on development trends shows that 2009 residential housing permits issued by local Lakes Region municipalities continue to decline to the lowest levels in more than 20 years. Laconia, Moultonborough and Bristol issues the most permits in the Lakes Region. For additional information see the report on the Landuse and Housing webpage.
